PostgreSQL is one of the most powerful open source databases available currently. PostGIS is a powerful extension of PostgreSQL that allows to run geospatial queries on tables. Being the swiss army knife of GIS, you can create, process, analyze geometries without your data ever leaving the database. By using PostgreSQL and PostGIS you can seamlesly integrate towards other server based solutions like: PygeoAPI, Geoserver or desktop solutions like QGIS.
During the course we will:
- Learn to deploy PostGIS using docker
- Follow the official documentation (https://postgis.net/docs/manual-3.4/) with focus on usage rather than settings and setup.
Course duration is 8 hours, with two 4 hour sessions.
