GDAL one of the best open source tools which can be used to read, write transform both vector and raster data. It can open combined almost 250 different raster and formats making it one of the most used scripting languages in the geospatial world.
Python is one of the most popular programming languages out there currently. Due to ease-of-use and easy syntax, python has lots of geospatial modules developed, libraries that can help you extract, process, transform and write data to and from various sources. You can process raster, vector and tabular data with or without coordinates.
During this course you will learn:
- How to install GDAL and
- How to use a virtual environment in python and how to use geospatial modules like: gdal, pyogrio, geopandas, rasterio, fiona, shapely etc.
- Specific use cases on: how to optimally read and write data, how to run analysis, how to do spatial operations.
This course requires that you have a basic understanding of variables and variable types in python, loops, methods and classes. To be able to run code we will be usinc Visual Studio Code.
